Features of the Induction Melting Vacuum Degassing Furnace

The induction melting vacuum degassing furnace operates by first melting the metal charge under atmospheric conditions (or optionally, under a vacuum). Subsequently, the molten metal undergoes vacuum degassing during the refining stage. Finally, the liquid metal is cast either in air or under the protection of an inert gas atmosphere.

This furnace system is capable of performing the following standard processes:

1.  Melting solid raw materials under atmospheric pressure (with vacuum melting as an optional mode).

2.  Melting solid materials within a controlled atmosphere.

3.  Homogenizing the alloy distribution and fine-tuning the chemical composition.

4.  Vacuum degassing for the removal of dissolved gases, primarily hydrogen and nitrogen.

5.  Reducing the content of residual trace elements, such as lead, zinc, and bismuth, under low-pressure conditions.

6.  Deoxidation utilizing a combined approach of vacuum and the carbon-oxygen reaction.

7.  Decarburization – the enhanced carbon-oxygen reaction under low pressure ensures effective decarburization, even for steels requiring very low carbon content.

8.  Argon purging via porous plug systems.

Compared to standard medium-frequency induction furnaces, the quality of products manufactured using the induction melting vacuum degassing furnace is significantly superior, as evidenced by the following improvements:

1.  Enhanced Mechanical Properties: The process substantially improves key mechanical characteristics, including metal strength, ductility, impact strength, fatigue strength, stress rupture strength, and high-temperature performance.

2.  Improved Processability: It enhances the material's suitability for subsequent processing, such as hot workability, weldability, and machinability.

3.  Superior Metallurgical Cleanliness: Due to the powerful deoxidizing effect of carbon under vacuum, non-metallic inclusions within the metal are more refined and uniformly distributed, resulting in better microstructural cleanliness.

4.  Reduced Property Variability: The process significantly decreases the statistical dispersion of performance characteristics across products, ensuring greater consistency and reliability.
